What’s the difference between a real estate agent and broker?
- To become an agent, you first have to take the required number of classes and then pass a state-licensing exam.
- To become a broker, you have to be an agent, take more classes, and then pass another state-licensing exam.
- Brokers can open, run, or own real estate offices, or work independently. Agents, however, have to work for brokers, who are responsible for them.

- Work with the most experienced professional you feel comfortable with, irrespective of title.
